Installation and macOS Gatekeeper

updated

Oyma is built natively for Apple silicon Macs. This guide covers downloading the disk image, installing the application, and verifying security integrity under macOS Gatekeeper.

System requirements

  • Hardware: Apple silicon Mac (M1, M2, M3, M4, Pro, Max, or Ultra).
  • Operating System: macOS 14.2 (Sonoma) or newer.
  • Memory: 8 GB unified memory minimum; 16 GB or more recommended for running Large Whisper models alongside local LLMs.
  • Storage: 500 MB for the base application. Whisper speech models download on demand (Base: 148 MB, Small: 488 MB, Large v3 Turbo: 1.6 GB).

Step-by-step installation

  1. Download the latest .dmg disk image from your private beta invite link.
  2. Double-click the .dmg file in Finder to mount the volume.
  3. Drag the Oyma application icon into your Applications folder.
  4. Eject the mounted disk image from Finder.
  5. Launch Oyma from Spotlight (⌘Space) or Applications.

Verifying the binary signature

You can inspect the cryptographic code signature of Oyma using the macOS Terminal:

codesign -dv --verbose=4 /Applications/Oyma.app

The output confirms the bundle identifier, Apple Team Identifier, and flags:

CodeDirectory v=20500 flags=0x10000(runtime) hashes=13+5 location=embedded
Signature size=9064
Authority=Developer ID Application: Marqly Inc.
Signed Time=2026-10-09
Info.plist entries=32
TeamIdentifier=XYZ1234567
Sealed Resources version=2 rules=13 files=120
Internal requirements count=1 size=180

The flags=0x10000(runtime) attribute verifies that Apple’s Hardened Runtime security environment is active, restricting unauthorized memory modifications and dylib injections.

Troubleshooting Gatekeeper notifications

If macOS displays a warning that the developer cannot be verified during private beta testing:

  1. Open System Settings › Privacy & Security.
  2. Scroll to the Security section.
  3. Under “Oyma was blocked from use”, click Open Anyway.
  4. Enter your Mac administrator password when prompted.

Questions

What Mac hardware is required?

Oyma requires an Apple silicon Mac (M1, M2, M3, M4 or later) running macOS 14.2 Sonoma or newer.

Why does Oyma require Apple silicon?

On-device Whisper transcription and local Ollama inference leverage Apple's unified memory architecture and Neural Engine for high-speed local processing.

How is the application binary signed?

The application package is signed with an Apple Developer certificate under Apple's Hardened Runtime security environment.
