File attachments and media management
Knowledge vaults frequently incorporate architectural diagrams, presentation slides, meeting audio snippets, and design mockups. Oyma manages all media attachments locally on disk using standard Markdown syntax and wikilink embeds.
Embedding media with wikilinks
Embed any image, audio file, or document in your vault using the exclamation mark wikilink prefix:
![[system-architecture-diagram.png]]
Specifying image dimensions
Control image display size in the editor and exported documents by appending width dimensions:
- Set width:
![[diagram.png|600]] - Set width and height:
![[diagram.png|600x400]]
Configuring attachment locations
Configure how Oyma handles new media in Settings › Files & Links › Attachments:
- In the folder specified below: Saves all media to a central vault directory (e.g.
attachments/orassets/). - Same folder as current note: Keeps attachments alongside the
.mddocument they belong to. - In subfolder under current folder: Creates a
./attachments/folder within each active directory.

Pasted images are saved to your vault's configured attachments folder (default: `attachments/`) as timestamped PNG or WebP files.
Can I embed local PDFs directly into notes?
Yes. Embedding `![[spec.pdf]]` displays a native interactive macOS PDF viewer inline within the editor.
Does Oyma upload attachments to cloud servers?
No. All media attachments reside 100% locally on your Mac's filesystem.
