Air-gapped Mac deployment protocol

updated

Legal defense teams, defense contractors, healthcare researchers, and executive leadership frequently operate within strictly air-gapped environments where network interfaces are physically disabled. This guide outlines the protocol for deploying Oyma into air-gapped Mac facilities.

Pre-deployment preparation (Connected staging Mac)

  1. Download the Oyma .dmg installer on your authorized staging computer.
  2. Launch the application and download your required Whisper model weights:
    • For general meetings: Small (488 MB)
    • For maximum accuracy: Large v3 Turbo (1.6 GB)
  3. Locate the downloaded model files in:
    ~/Library/Application Support/Oyma/models/
  4. If using local LLM summaries, download the Ollama binary and run ollama pull llama3.2:3b.
  5. Copy the application bundle, model weights, and Ollama files to an encrypted, approved transfer drive.

Air-gapped target Mac deployment

  1. Connect the transfer drive to the air-gapped target Mac.
  2. Copy Oyma.app into /Applications/.
  3. Create the destination models directory and copy the model weights:
    mkdir -p ~/Library/Application Support/Oyma/models/
    cp -R /Volumes/TransferDrive/models/* ~/Library/Application Support/Oyma/models/
  4. Launch Oyma.
  5. Open Settings › Privacy and enable Local-Only Mode.
  6. Select your local vault directory.

Verifying air-gapped integrity

Confirm zero network attempts in the Egress log. The ledger will display 0 requests sent across all session hours.

Questions

Can Oyma run on Macs that never connect to the internet?

Yes. Once the application binary and Whisper model weights are copied to the machine, Oyma operates permanently offline.

How do I install Whisper models without internet?

Copy the model directory from another Mac into `~/Library/Application Support/Oyma/models/` via an approved secure USB drive.

Does Oyma require periodic license activation?

No. The application contains zero licensing servers, phone-home beacons, or periodic activation checks.
