Batch audio and video transcription
Beyond live conference recording, knowledge workers frequently need to transcribe archives of client voice memos, recorded webinars, academic lectures, and podcast interviews. Oyma includes an asynchronous batch transcription engine.
Drag-and-drop batch transcription
- Open the Command Palette (⌘O) and type
Transcribe an audio or video file. - Select one or more files in Finder and drag them into the Transcription Workbench drop zone.
- Choose your target Whisper model (Base, Small, or Large v3 Turbo).
- Select destination folder in your vault (default:
transcripts/). - Click Start Batch Processing.
Processing queue management
The batch manager processes audio files sequentially to prevent CPU throttling and memory exhaustion:
Batch Queue (3 items)
[1/3] client-interview-01.m4a [████████████] 100% (Completed)
[2/3] lecture-architecture.mp4 [██████░░░░░░] 52% (Transcribing...)
[3/3] voice-memo-oct-09.wav [░░░░░░░░░░░░] 0% (Queued)
- Pause / Resume: Pause the queue if you need full CPU performance for video rendering or code compiling.
- Background Execution: The transcription queue continues running smoothly if you minimize Oyma or switch workspaces.
Generated Markdown output
Each processed audio file generates a clean CommonMark document containing:
- Frontmatter metadata (original filename, duration, file size, transcription model, timestamp).
- Audio player embed linking to the local media file.
- Formatted transcript with paragraph breaks.

Yes. Drag and drop multiple files into the transcription workbench to process them in an asynchronous queue.
