Meetings

A note that listened.

Start capture from any note. Oyma records your microphone and the call’s audio, transcribes it on your Mac while you talk, and puts the summary in the same Markdown file. No bot joins the call.

While the call is recorded, the Transcript panel fills in live: a three-dot listening indicator, then each sentence appearing word by word before it settles into a bubble labelled “Other audio” for the call or “You” for your microphone. Transcription runs on your Mac.

How it works

  1. Start capture. From the note you’re writing in, or from the card that appears when Oyma notices a call starting. A small dock shows the time and lets you pause or stop.
  2. Keep writing. Your own notes stay yours. The transcript builds up beside them in the Transcript panel, on your Mac.
  3. Stop and summarise. Pick a template (general, standup, retro, design review or 1:1) and the summary is written into the note with decisions and action items.
  4. Ask. Ask the note, a selection or the transcript a question, then add the answer to your note.

Works with the calls you already have

Oyma notices when one of these apps starts a call and offers to capture it:

  • Zoom
  • Google Meet
  • Microsoft Teams
  • Webex
  • Slack huddles
  • Discord
  • Around
  • Whereby

It records at the system level, so the meeting app doesn’t need a plugin and nobody sees a bot in the participant list. Calendar attendees can be pulled from macOS Calendar if you turn that on. Recording a meeting.

Transcription on your Mac

Live transcription uses Whisper running on your Mac. Choose a model when you first record: Base (148 MB), Small (488 MB, the default) or Large v3 Turbo (1.6 GB). It downloads once and works offline after that. Thirteen languages are supported, plus auto-detect. Choosing a transcription model.

Summaries with the AI you choose

Summaries and Ask run with Ollama on your Mac, so the text never leaves it, or with your own Anthropic or OpenAI key if you prefer a cloud model. There is no Oyma AI subscription and nothing is sent to us.

What it doesn’t do yet

It doesn’t identify individual speakers, add timestamps to the transcript, or join calendar meetings automatically. It runs on Apple silicon Macs only. We’d rather tell you now than have you find out mid-meeting. See how wecompare with other notetakers, including where they’re better.

Questions

Setup help is in the docs.

Will people on the call know I am recording?

Oyma doesn’t add a bot or a notice to the call. You are responsible for telling people and getting consent where the law requires it. The app shows a consent reminder when you start a capture.

Does it record the other side of the call?

Yes, on macOS 14.2 or later with the Screen & System Audio Recording permission. Without that permission it records your microphone only.

Do I need headphones?

It helps. There is no echo cancellation yet, so without headphones your speakers can be picked up by the microphone and some lines appear twice.

Does it label who said what?

Not yet. The transcript separates your microphone (“You”) from the call’s audio (“Other audio”), but it does not identify individual speakers.

Can I transcribe a recording I already have?

Yes. Use “Transcribe an audio or video file…” from the command palette and the transcript lands in a note.

Try it on your next call.
