Features

Plain Markdown notes with on-device meetings on your Mac.

Every feature here is verified against the desktop codebase. Notes stay local plain text, call audio transcribes on-device without a bot, and nothing leaves your Mac without permission.

The desktop app is invite-only during the private beta. Marketing copy is strictly constrained to what is proven in the shipped codebase.

How features are verified

We do not publish hypothetical feature roadmaps or dress prototypes up as released functionality. Every page in this section is tied directly to source evidence and automated tests in the Oyma macOS application repository.

  • Shipped truth: If a capability is in development or requires an unreleased API, it does not get a feature page. Only shipped capabilities are published.
  • Transparent evidence: Each page cites the exact source files and controller modules where the feature is implemented and tested.
  • Printed qualifiers: When a capability has hardware requirements (such as macOS 14.2+ for system audio capture) or model download requirements (Whisper weights for transcription), they are prominently disclosed.
  • No cloud lock-in: Every note feature operates directly on plain Markdown files stored in a directory you choose on your local drive.

The Mac-first architecture

Oyma is built specifically for macOS. That architectural choice shapes every feature:

Instead of running as a generic web wrapper, the app hooks into native macOS system APIs. Screen and system audio recording captures your microphone and call participants directly without inviting an external bot to your Zoom, Google Meet, or Teams meetings. Transcription runs locally using optimized Whisper models, meaning sensitive client discussions and executive briefings never pass through third-party transcription servers.

Meanwhile, note organization relies on standard Markdown, wikilinks, and YAML frontmatter. If you already use an Obsidian vault, Oyma opens it in place without converting your notes.

Your notes, in plain Markdown.
