How Meeting Detection Operates
CoreAudio Process Monitoring
Oyma monitors active audio output streams using lightweight macOS CoreAudio notifications. When an application like Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Cisco Webex, or a browser running Google Meet begins outputting audio on an active call device, Oyma prompts you with a single-click recording banner.
Calendar Metadata Association
By reading your local macOS Calendar events, Oyma identifies the meeting title, scheduled duration, and attendee list, automatically populating the YAML frontmatter of your meeting note with bidirectional links.
Audio Unit Hooks & System Integrity
Our audio detection service operates with minimal system overhead:
- Listens exclusively to CoreAudio HAL property listeners (
kAudioHardwarePropertyDefaultOutputDevice), avoiding continuous process polling. - Requires zero root privileges, system extensions, or kernel modifications.
- Preserves battery life with less than 0.2% average CPU utilization while idling in the background.
