Spreadsheet-like table editing directly inside live-preview Markdown, Numbers and Excel clipboard paste, and column sorting.
Release Highlights
- Spreadsheet-like interactive table editing within live-preview Markdown
- Direct TSV and CSV clipboard paste from Apple Numbers, Excel, and Google Sheets
- Column sorting, row insertion, and arrow-key cell traversal
- Automatic formatting as clean, evenly padded GitHub Flavored Markdown on disk
Release Highlights: Rich Tables Without Markup Friction
Writing Markdown tables by hand using ASCII pipes and dashes has long been one of the most frustrating aspects of plain text note-taking. Version 0.8.0 introduces our spreadsheet-like table editor.
Key Features
Spreadsheet Navigation in Live Preview
Tables render as interactive visual grids. You can traverse cells using the Tab and Enter keys, select columns, add rows with a single shortcut, and sort data alphabetically or numerically.
Instant Spreadsheet Paste
Copying a range of cells from Apple Numbers, Microsoft Excel, or Google Sheets and pressing ⌘V instantly formats the tab-separated clipboard data into a perfectly structured table. On disk, the file remains standard plain GFM pipe syntax.
Serialization Architecture & Performance
The table serialization engine operates with strict CommonMark compliance:
- Column alignment directives (
:---,:---:,---:) are preserved automatically during live editing. - Special characters including pipes (
|) and line breaks within cells are safely escaped on disk. - Memory undo and redo history buffers support instantaneous rollbacks for large multi-row data pastes.
