# Cleaned Meeting Transcript ### John Doe Zoom Meeting Transcript Good morning everyone. Let's review the SQLite FTS5 migration status. We saw substantial indexing speedups on Apple Silicon. ### Elena Vance Yes, and the audio pipeline tests passed with 4.2ms loopback latency. Sorry about that, my connection briefly reconnected. ### John Doe No worries Elena. What about memory consumption on 8 GB MacBook Airs?
The mess of copy-pasting teleconference transcripts
Video conferencing tools like Zoom, Microsoft Teams, and Google Meet provide automated closed captioning and in-call transcript generation. However, copying these transcripts from the browser web app or desktop client into your personal Markdown notes results in a chaotic, unreadable mess of repetitive timestamps, broken sentences, and conference system logs.
Instead of capturing the essence of a debate, you are left with dozens of fragmented lines:
10:14:02 John Doe:
Hey everyone.
10:14:05 John Doe:
Let's look at the numbers.
10:14:10 John Doe left the meeting.
10:14:15 John Doe joined the meeting.Cleaning this raw text by hand—deleting time stamps, stitching sentences together, and stripping system events—can take fifteen minutes after every call. This tool automates the entire process in your browser within milliseconds.
How the transcript cleaning engine works
This utility applies deterministic pattern matching to transform unstructured teleconference logs into clean, readable Markdown:
- System message filtering: Automatically identifies and removes common conference status logs like "Recording has started", "User joined the meeting", "User left the meeting", and "Transcription enabled".
- Speaker turn merging: When a participant speaks across multiple consecutive utterances separated by pauses or software line breaks, the engine merges them into a cohesive paragraph under a single speaker heading.
- Directory name normalization: Converts inverted corporate directory names (such as
Vance, Elenain Microsoft Teams) into standard conversational formatting (Elena Vance). - Timestamp removal or preservation: By default, timestamps are stripped to produce clean reading prose. If you need timestamps for legal or reference purposes, unchecking the option retains clean minute markers (
[14:02]).
Supported meeting platforms
The cleaner recognizes the distinct export patterns of the major business teleconferencing platforms:
- Zoom: Single-line format containing timestamps and colon dividers (
00:01:12 First Last: Message). - Google Meet: Multi-line format with speaker name on line one, time on line two, and utterance on line three.
- Microsoft Teams: Corporate directory naming with 12-hour AM/PM timestamps (
Last, First 10:14:02 AM).
Private meeting capture with Oyma
Copy-pasting transcripts from video conferencing apps is a friction-filled workaround. At Oyma, we built a native Mac solution that captures both microphone and system audio without requiring cloud bots or post-meeting copy-pasting. The app transcribes calls in real time using local Whisper models, creating structured decision records that land straight in your Markdown vault. Frequently asked questions
Questions
Does this tool upload my meeting transcript to any cloud server?
No. The cleaning logic runs entirely inside your browser tab using deterministic pattern matching. Your transcript is never sent over the internet or saved in browser cache.
Which video meeting platforms does this cleaner support?
It handles transcripts and chat logs copied directly from Zoom Meetings, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, and Webex, adapting to both timestamped line headers and multi-line speaker formats.
How does speaker name normalization work?
Many enterprise systems like Microsoft Teams export names in inverted corporate directory format (e.g., "Vance, Elena"). This tool detects the comma structure and formats the speaker as "Elena Vance" automatically.
What system messages are automatically stripped?
The cleaner strips automated teleconference notifications such as "Recording has started", "User joined the meeting", "User left the meeting", and "Waiting in lobby" that clutter notes.
How does the desktop app capture clean transcripts directly?
The desktop app records system audio locally on your Mac and transcribes it directly via Whisper, producing cleanly formatted speaker dialogue without requiring manual copy-pasting from web portals.
