# Oyma > Oyma is a local-first Markdown notes app for the Mac. Notes are plain Markdown files in a folder you choose, with wikilinks, backlinks, tables and a graph. Meetings are built in: it records calls without a bot (your microphone plus the call's audio), transcribes them on your Mac with Whisper, and writes the summary into the note. Summaries and questions run on your Mac with Ollama, or with your own Anthropic or OpenAI key. Free during the private beta. Facts verified against the app on 2026-10-03. Platform: macOS 14 or later on Apple silicon (private beta). Not available yet: Windows, Linux, iPhone, Android. ## What it does today - Live-preview Markdown editor - Wikilinks with aliases and heading autocomplete ([[Note#Heading]] autocompletes but ⌘-click does not open the heading yet (wikilink-resolver.ts)) - Callouts, highlights, comments, footnotes, tags - Spreadsheet-like tables (Tab/Enter navigation, row and column menus, sort, CSV/TSV paste, images in cells) - Folding for headings, lists and code - YAML frontmatter - Link cards and hover previews - Date chips and reminders - Find and replace, read mode - Plain Markdown files in a folder you choose - Opens an existing Obsidian vault (Obsidian plugins and .canvas files are not supported) - Renaming a note rewrites its links - Daily notes - Tabs - Backlinks and outline - Graph view - Full-text search (SQLite FTS5) - Command palette ⌘O (notes, > commands, # tags) - Records your mic and the call audio, no bot joins (macOS 14.2+, needs the Screen & System Audio Recording permission) - Detects Zoom, Google Meet, Teams, Webex, Slack huddles, Discord, Around and Whereby - Attendees from macOS Calendar (opt-in) - Live on-device transcription (Whisper), 13 languages + auto-detect (models download on demand: Base 148 MB, Small 488 MB, Large v3 Turbo 1.6 GB) - Transcribe existing audio and video files - AI meeting summaries with 5 templates and auto-title (runs on your Mac with Ollama, or with your own Anthropic/OpenAI key) - Ask a note, selection or transcript (per note, not across the whole vault) - Local-only mode blocks all network access - Egress log of every outbound request - API keys stored in the macOS Keychain - Telemetry off unless you turn it on - Export to PDF, DOCX and HTML - Light and dark themes - Tested against WCAG 2.2 AA with axe (automated tests, no external audit) - English and Spanish interface ## Not built yet (do not describe these as available) - Dictation - AI proofread - Variants / AI alternatives / Lab - Sync - Hosted publishing - Hosted AI credits - iPhone / Android apps - Windows / Linux builds - Speaker identification - Ask across all notes - Canvas - Plugins - Tasks inbox ## Key pages - [Home](https://www.getoyma.com/) - [Privacy](https://www.getoyma.com/privacy-architecture) - [Meetings](https://www.getoyma.com/meetings) - [Compare](https://www.getoyma.com/compare) - [Docs](https://www.getoyma.com/docs) - [Pricing](https://www.getoyma.com/pricing) - [Join the beta](https://www.getoyma.com/download) ## Docs - [Getting started](https://www.getoyma.com/docs/getting-started) - [Open an Obsidian vault](https://www.getoyma.com/docs/obsidian-vault) - [On-device AI with Ollama](https://www.getoyma.com/docs/local-ai-ollama) - [Recording permissions](https://www.getoyma.com/docs/recording-permissions) - [Local-only mode](https://www.getoyma.com/docs/local-only-mode) ## Compare - [All comparisons](https://www.getoyma.com/compare) - [vs Obsidian](https://www.getoyma.com/compare/oyma-vs-obsidian) - [vs Granola](https://www.getoyma.com/compare/oyma-vs-granola)
